Michael Schoeny
Michael E. Schoeny is a Senior Researcher at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago and Co- Investigator on multiple projects within the Families and Communities Research Group, including the Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention, the Developmental Evaluation of Prevention Effects of the SAFE Children Intervention, and Developmental Ecological Measurement of Neighborhood Effects on Youth Violence. Dr. Schoeny has worked on several multi-site and longitudinal research studies in which he has been in charge of data collection methods, management of data processing, and data analysis. His areas of expertise include longitudinal research design and data analysis, ecological influences on child development and risk, factors influencing individuals’ perceptions of their social environment, prevention of adolescent health risk behaviors, and peer influences on adolescent risk behaviors. Prior to joining the Families and Communities Research Group, Dr. Schoeny was at the American Medical Association, where he conducted evaluations of a number of demonstration projects for the Child and Adolescent Health Program.
He earned a bachelor of science degree at Indiana University, and a master of arts and a doctoral degree in Clinical Child Psychology from DePaul University.
