Evaluation of the Elementary School Counseling Program of the Chicago Public Schools

Gretchen Ruth Cusick, Principal Investigator
2009

Chapin Hall is evaluating the Chicago Public Schools’ elementary school counseling program. The goal of this initiative is to increase the availability of effective counseling services in targeted schools. For this project CPS is focusing on two or three schools in the Austin community. The aim of the initiative is to implement evidence-based strategies that decrease disciplinary referrals and improve peer and adult social and emotional learning supports. The initiative also focuses on providing inservice training for professionals and promoting engagement among parents and community groups. Chapin Hall is designing and conducting an evaluation that examines both process and outcome measures.
