This report examines the progress and significant impacts of the Donors' Education Collaborative (DEC) initiative over the four-year span of its implementation. Through the initiative's projects the Equity Reform Project, the Metro Industrial Areas Foundation, the Parent Organizing Consortium, and Transforming Education for New York's Newest DEC sought to build informed, broad-based, permanent constituencies that will advocate to improve public education for all children in New York City. The report details the achievements of the DEC projects and includes a summary overview of the progress of each project during the four years. These achievements include providing a voice in and helping to shape policy debates, strengthening institutional groundwork for reform, raising the visibility of education issues, and promoting the legitimacy of stakeholder groups. The report discusses lessons learned in each of these and other areas.
