Neighborhood Strategies Project

A Final Assessment

Patricia Auspos, Prudence Brown, Janice M. Hirota
2000

The Neighborhood Strategies Project (NSP) is a six-year initiative sponsored by the New York Community Trust to create economic opportunities for residents in three low-income neighborhoods in New York City: Mott Haven in the Bronx, Washington Heights/Inwood in Manhattan, and Williamsburg in Brooklyn. This report assesses six workforce development and brokering programs established by the NSP collaboratives and uses them to explore an issue of some policy relevance today–namely, the strengths, challenges, and benefits that result from developing and implementing employment-related programs within a community context.
