Associate Policy Analyst
Alison Myers is an Associate Policy Analyst at Chapin Hall. Prior to joining Chapin Hall, Myers was a Graduate Investigative Intern with The Office of Inspector General for The Department of Children and Family Services [DCFS]. In this role, she investigated death and neglected cases of youth under DCFS custody and assisted in developing incident timelines, case summaries, and recommendations for DCFS. In addition to this work, Myers acted as policy chair for Foster Care Alumni of America, Illinois Chapter and continues to serve on the board for Foster Progress, an organization that empowers current and former youth in care to achieve higher education and transition to adulthood.
Prior to these roles, Myers spent two summers in Washington, DC with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute [CCAI] as a Foster Youth Intern and then as The Programs & Resident Assistant. In these positions, Myers researched, wrote, and presented to Congress a policy report focused on improving extended foster care, in addition to serving as a legislative intern for Illinois Senator Dick Durbin. She then had the opportunity to assist CCAI in organizing the Foster Youth Internship program by providing emotional and developmental support to the new class of Interns. In between her work with CCAI, Myers organized and facilitated a group for Illinois State University students, who were passionate about or experienced the foster care system, called Together Creating Community. At the same time, she was an Undergraduate Residential Advocate with Mid-Central Community Action’s domestic violence shelter, where she worked directly with families, youth, and adults living with domestic violence.
Myers holds a Master of Arts in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Social Work from Illinois State University.
