Aya Liu

Researcher (Data Engineer)

Aya Liu is a Researcher (Data Engineer) at Chapin Hall. She is primarily interested in how better data systems can improve the equity and usability of social services and ultimately empower marginalized communities. Liu’s current work includes assessing data quality and developing analytic / visualization tools for improving the accessibility and quality of early learning programs in Chicago. She is also working on building an integrated data analysis and reporting system serving Chicago youth in collaboration with a network of community-based organizations.

Before joining Chapin Hall, Liu worked at UChicago Urban Labs Poverty Lab as a Data Research Assistant, where she standardized preprocessing for administrative data record linkage and evaluated post-secondary education programs.

Liu holds a Master of Science in Computational Analysis and Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame.
