Yasmin Grewal-Kök

Policy Fellow

Yasmin Grewal-Kök is a Policy Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago. Her work focuses on supporting large-scale system change efforts to positively impact the lives of children and their families. She provides research-driven implementation and capacity-building assistance to local and state child welfare agencies across the country, and is currently guiding several jurisdictions in their planning, readiness, and implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act. With expertise in early childhood and child welfare research and policy, she also co-leads the development of Chapin Hall’s resources on economic and concrete supports as a core component of child and family well-being systems. She has presented on this work at the state and national level.

Grewal-Kök is an attorney with over a decade of legal experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining Chapin Hall, she helped to lead the policy and advocacy agenda at Early Edge, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding high-quality, publicly funded early learning programs in California.

Grewal-Kök holds a Juris Doctorate from Berkeley Law at the University of California, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. Her previous research has focused on effective multi-systems collaboration to promote the educational experiences and outcomes of young children in foster care.
