Chapin Hall

Citlalli Garcia is a Research Assistant at Chapin Hall, working on an evaluation of a pilot program for young mothers in community college. Garcia’s work primarily involves literature synthesis and planning and implementation of data collection and analysis. Her research and writing centers on qualitative methods collection to ensure that the evaluation of the program examines the influence on recipients and ensures thorough comprehension and effective change. Some of her current external projects include the evaluation of a high school Latino/a/x Studies course teachers and data collection and analysis of after-school art program for Black and Brown middle school youth.

Prior to working at Chapin Hall, Garcia interned and provided research for nonprofit organizations like Mil Mujeres, which provides legal aid and a pathway to citizenship for victims of domestic abuse and felonious violence. She also worked with Women Employed, which catalyzes policy change for workplace equity in Illinois. As an undergraduate, Garcia engaged in research in a project that evaluated the level of preparedness graduate school programs provided for future school counselors to properly care for students with disabilities.

Garcia graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Learning and Education Studies with a concentration in Education Equality and Cultural Understanding and a minor in Latina Latino/x Studies.

Garcia will begin an M.S. in Language and Literacy at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Fall of 2022.
