Anika Bissahoyo

Director of Research Operations

Dr. Anika Bissahoyo serves as the Director of Research Operations for Chapin Hall. She oversees the day-to-day operations of Chapin Hall’s research portfolio and provides oversight of research staff with direct supervision of Senior Research Fellows. As a member of Chapin Hall’s administrative leadership team, she works closely with the Executive Director and the full administrative team to ensure alignment of Chapin Hall’s research portfolio with the organization’s vision, strategic goals, business needs, compliance requirements, and staff development goals.

Prior to joining Chapin Hall in 2024, Bissahoyo’s career was focused in the higher education arena in research and sponsored programs administration, development, and undergraduate research. Most recently, Bissahoyo served as the Assistant Vice President for Research at Bowie State University in Bowie, MD. During her 12-year tenure at the institution, she led the Offices of Research and Sponsored Programs and Undergraduate Research, managing the University’s extramural grants and contracts portfolio, building the infrastructure for research, and supporting the expansion of the undergraduate research program. Bissahoyo also previously served as the Director of Development at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC and Director of Sponsored Programs at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. 

Bissahoyo earned a PhD in Toxicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
