Kristen Brunner Hislop

Senior Researcher

Kristen Brunner Hislop is a Senior Researcher at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, where she serves as Project Director for Chapin Hall’s Multistate Foster Care Data Archive. The Archive is a longitudinal file that forms the core of the Center for State Child Welfare Data. Hislop coordinates the acquisition and maintenance of Archive data and manages the development and processing of the state data as well as the maintenance and ongoing development of the Archive database. She has been Project Director of the Archive since 1998 and has been providing research support for the Center for State Child Welfare Data, since 2001. Current work also includes performance assessment related to performance-based contracting, the development and maintenance of longitudinal analytic files related to foster homes for multiple states and the monitoring and evaluation of child welfare outcomes.  Hislop has broad experience with data analysis, performance-based contracting, policy analysis, data management, program evaluation, and social service financing. 

Before coming to Chapin Hall, she worked for the New York State Division of Budget, where she had responsibility for programs in both the Mental Health and Substance Abuse unit and the Child Welfare unit. 

Hislop holds an MA in Public Affairs, with concentrations in policy analysis and management of public and nonprofit organizations, from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
