Lisa Williams

General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer

Lisa Williams serves as General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer for Chapin Hall. As General Counsel, Williams provides general legal advice, directs and manages organizational policies, oversees procurement, and continues to build coherent and rigorous processes that align with Chapin Hall’s legal obligations to clients and partners. She also works with leadership and Principal Investigators to negotiate and draft all organizational agreements.

Williams has focused her legal career in the higher education and research realm. Before coming to Chapin Hall, Williams was Associate Counsel for East Tennessee State University for 9 years. In that role, she advised University administration on matters relating to academic, faculty, and student affairs, with emphases in contracts, immigration, FERPA, policy development, and employment issues. She negotiated all University agreements, including clinical affiliation agreements, leases, and procurement contracts.

Williams earned a Juris Doctorate from Liberty University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Cedarville University.
